The Pipe Band became a separate unit of the USAF Band in 1963,
when the D&B corps was re-assigned to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Co.
The Pipe Band
was a favorite of the Kennedy White House
President John F. Kennedy shakes hands with members of the Pipe Band.
Band members wore Saffron Kilts in honor
of the White House visit of Sean Lamass, Prime Minister of Ireland.
